Fred Lonberg-Holm
Ubiquitous Chicago cellist, whose name is familiar to many fans of modern music as he has worked with such artists as: BOXHEAD ENSEMBLE, FLYING LUTTENBACHERS, FREAKWATER, SUPERCHUNK, THE ALUMINUM GROUP, THE STYRENES and many others in addition to releasing several albums of improvised music in a variety of ensembles. Here he teams up with 12 different guitarists for improvised duets of cello & guitar. A project not too dissimilar in concept from DEREK BAILEY's "Playbacks" CD and one with similarly surprising results.
collaborators:
Jim O'Rourke, Ben Vida, Kevin Drumm, Todd Rittmann, Michael Krassner, Charles Kim, Jeb Bishop, John Corbett, Helen Mirra, Michael Zerang, Adam Sonderberg, Jim Baker

Check out this amazing EP by Lunar Testing Lab called 'Seashore Blvd.' Some of the best music i've heard in quite a while:

Do you have the album he made with Jim O'Rourke and Walter Weasel, which was a homage to Masayuki Takayanagi?
