The Cairo Gang

"While there's nothing new about the Cairo Gang's debut full-length, none of it sounds canned or dated either. How do they make oft-cited influences sound fresh? Long answer: The Cairo Gang take the instrumentation of gentle British 70's folk with the free-form composition and detached, beard-stroking vibe of post-rock, all executed with the fidelity and humility of homespun indie rock. Short answer: The Cairo Gang cuts across musical movements of several years' span to create music sounding distinctly out of time.

Guitarist Emmett Kelly has accompanied several other artists such as Beth Orton and Edith Frost as a supposed wunderkind, but the record is free of show-offy virtuosity or flash. Kelly's talents lie in his intuition, and that's a big part of why the jarring shifts between songs don't sound forced, just restless. Some of it was drawn from material Kelly worked on by himself, explaining the often home-recorded feel, though he drafted more musicians and completed recording in at least three other cities before finishing this diverse whole."

Born in the English Midlands but now based in Glasgow, Scotland, guitarist Ben Reynolds has been a prominent player in and contributor to the United Kingdom’s fertile underground psych/drone scene for many years.
A current member of the long-running and highly influential Ashtray Navigations, Reynolds appears on recordings by Vibracathedral Orchestra and Sunroof. He and is also active via his duo project Motor Ghost with Directing Hand, both with free-jazz drummer Alex Neilsen. Numerous solo releases also exist DIY fashion, while proper pressings are available through Last Visible Dog, Digitalis Industries and Time-Lag.

Doseone

Doseone is the stage name of Adam Drucker (born April 21, 1977), an emcee, artist, and poet from Cincinnati, Ohio. Dose is known for his nasal, high pitched, fast polyrhythmic rapping style and abstract lyrics. He often simultaneously performs synth, sampler, or keyboard on stage. His words tend to express upon topics of childhood, nature, and American life. Early in his musical career, Dose was in a freestyle rap battle with a then unknown Eminem at Scribble Jam 1997.

He is a founding member of the anticon. hip hop collective, recording with cLOUDDEAD, Boom Bip, Themselves, Greenthink, Deep Puddle Dynamics, Subtle, as well as cameo appearances with many other artists, such as Aesop Rock, Sole, and Mike Patton's Peeping Tom. His latest projects have been Subtle's ExitingARM, the solo album Skeleton Repellent, and the spoken word album Soft Skulls.
