Swans

Children of God (1987)

O
ne of my all time favorites. Dark, menacing, insanely creepy, just mindblowingly amazing. Moments of brutal ugliness are balanced by touches of sheer majestic beauty… Gira’s vocals and lyrics are more fucked-up, wounded and brutal than ever, while Jarboe’s angelic voice provides a perfect contrast. Genius.

White Light from the Mouth of Infinity (1991)

Angry, big, beautiful, more powerful than ever.

Soundtracks for the Blind (1996)

cd 1
cd 2
The weirdest, bravest thing they've done. Lush orchestration + dark, eerie soundscapes + post rock + doom and gloom and despair + transparent moments of majestic, heavenly beauty.

Great post! I had the honor of playing in a band that opened for Swans on the COG tour at which they played mostly Burning World material which wouldn't come out for another year...it was incredible! M Gira was very kind and soft spoken...we talked a lot about the Skin records that had just come out and blew me away... Thanks for the memories..Any chance of posting Shame Humility and Revenge
